DitoGear™ OmniSlider Questions
Can DitoGear™ OmniSlider be operated manually?
No, unfortunately not. The slider is driven using a stepper or servo motor and even if it is unpowered, the motor and gearbox generate resistance, so the movements won’t be fluent.
Can I upgrade DitoGear™ CrankSlider to OmniSlider?
Yes, most versions of the DitoGear™ CrankSlider are upgradeable to DitoGear™ OmniSlider. Only a few units from the first batches can’t be upgraded easily.
What is the maximum workload of the slider?
Horizontally – up to 30kg (stepper) and 70kg (servo), vertically up to 4-5kg (stepper) and 12kg (servo). If you’re planning on using it with a heavy camera (horizontally), you’ll have to consider also stability. The DitoGear™ OmniSlider is rather a compact unit, so to make it work properly with a heavy camera you’ll need to stabilize it properly. Also, using a compact rig and placing the load as low as possible, close to the axis improves the performance.
I use … camera. Is the slider compatible?
There are 2 aspects of compatibility. The first one is whether you can place your camera on the slider or not – see question above. The other is shutter control which is an optional feature used in drive-shoot-drive mode, continuous timelapse mode as well as stop motion. Currently we support shutter control of most models of Canon, Nikon and Panasonic GH1/GH2 DSLR cameras as well as RED ONE.
Is the slider loud? Can I record sound nearby?
The DitoGear™ OmniSlider Servo is a quiet unit and you may easily work with sound nearby provided that you operat at low to average speeds range. With really fast movements (above 70% of speed setting) it may become loud.

The DitoGear™ OmniSlider Stepper is rather not recommended for the film work and for working with the sound on the set. At higher speeds in video mode the slider is quite loud so it rather wont be possible to record sound nearby.

I have an important shooting tomorrow / in a few days. If I order today how fast can you get the slider to me?
Most orders are dispatched within 4 days from the date of the payment. Shipping is 3-4 days (economy) or 1-2 days (priority). Take into account possible shipping delays and customs clearance time. Add some time to check if the parcel arrived in good condition and reserve some time for setting it up, testing and learning.
We do not recommend buying the equipment in rush, but once you have decided to go for it, we’ll make our best to help you get it on time.
How much is shipping to…
Shipping costs depend on your location and the goods you order. To get a rough estimate, use the shipping calculator in the box to the right at www.ditogear.com/store. You can also register, add products to cart and proceed to checkout – the shipping costs will be calculated for you if possible.

Usually the shipping of the DitoGear™ OmniSlider + Transport case should be about EUR 50.00 – 60.00 to Europe and about USD 100.00 – 150.00 to US.
Please note that 2.5m units may only be shipped using freight carrier and this is much more expensive.

I would like to try the product before I buy. Can I rent it somewhere?
