Introducing DitoGear™ OmniSlider

Our first flagship product, the DitoGear™ DriveCam Slider turned out to be a great success and got a fantastic reception from our customers. We have also received a lot of feature requests and notes during first months and decided to develop significant upgrades to the slider. We’d like to thank to all of you for your input and notes that helped to improve the product.

As a result of undertaken development we’re proud to introduce its successor – a DitoGear™ OmniSlider. Product is available on preorder starting from 2010/12/01 and first production units may be expected by Christmas. Previous models will be discontinued by the end of of 2010. Customers who already purchased a DitoGear™ DriveCam Slider or purchase it by the end of 2010 will have opportunity to upgrade the controller free of charge (covering only shipping costs).

Please find below a short list of new features
and improvements embodied in the DitoGear™ OmniSlider

Improved controller user interface

The convenient readout of important motion parameters has been added including large digits for speed damping, speed value, elapsed and remaining program time and slider position.

Improved stability of the trolley

The new OmniSlider is manufactured now using even more precise rail system with much tighter linear bearing system. This allows fore more vibration-proof performance with different gear setups. This feature is unfortunately not available via controller upgrade as it is related to the rail design.

Wider range of supported shutter-controllable cameras

OmniSlider controls shutter not only of Canon DSLR cameras, but also supports Nikon. RED One shutter release cables are also available upon request.

Position memory

DitoGear™ OmniSlider has been given a position memory. After starting the unit at the initial position the trolley ‘knows’ its position with high precision.

GoTo Position feature

Allows to precisely position the trolley at the desired position. The options allows to go to relative (percentage) position or to absolute position entered in millimeters.

StopMotion features

We have received many inquiries from stop-motion artists and therefore a basic StopMotion feature has been developed. It allows, similarly to the timelapse modes known from previous models, to set the number of shots to be taken across the full travel length and fire each of shots manually. The camera may be controlled externally or via OmniSlider with a Shutter Release Cable.

Introducing DitoGear™ CrankSlider.

We’ve got a lot of inquiries regarding less expensive products and manual operation. We’re pleased to announce the release of DitoGear™ CrankSlider – a linear camera slider dedicated for manual operation providing ultimately smooth and noiseless performance.

Key features:

  • Full range of lengths: 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m, 2.0m, 2.5m
  • The same, appreciated rail design and quality build
  • Extremely fluent linear bearing system
  • Precise control of motion resistance with the adjustable brake
  • Belt and gear-based drive system with convenient, adjustable crank for ultra smooth operation and precise control of the camera
  • Noiseless operation

The DitoGear™ CrankSlider will be available in our store just few days, so stay tuned.

The retail price is EUR 549.00 for 1m version (~130 cm total length).

The introductory price of EUR 499.00 for the first 100 units is valid until the end of December, 2010.

Future product releases

DitoGear™ DryEye

DitoGear™ DryEye, a 3-way dew prevention system has been designed for use with DSLR and video cameras. Two versions will be released:

DitoGear™ DryEye Lite

3-Way, simple, inexpensive and efficient – all you need to shoot long timelapse and video sequences without the dew condensation on your optics and equipment.

DitoGear™ DryEye Pro

3-Way, with LCD display, temperature, humidity sensors and automatic temperature control. Much more power efficient.

DryEye Lite will be available by January 2011. DryEye Pro will be released in the first quarter of 2011.

DitoGear™ Professional-level linear
motion control system for heavy cameras

In response for more demanding users we have started the development of the linear motion control system dedicated for heavy camera systems. The upcoming product will be based on unique double rail design, a completely new drive system for vibration-free and noiseless operation under high payloads. The release date is not known at the moment, but the launch is planned in the middle of 2011. The product will be also followed by multi-axis motion control system.

DitoGear™ Entry-level timelapse slider

The main goal of this development was to provide a simple, entry-level time-lapse slider with basic features for amateur users at really affordable price. The product release is scheduled to January, 2011.

DitoGear™ PowerPack

The DitoGear™ PowerPack is a new upcoming product launch scheduled to 2011. What we wanted to do is solve the power issues of advanced timelapse shooters providing the versatile power pack capable of supplying a lot of power at different range of voltages and ready to power DitoGear™ Products, major brands and models of DSLR Cameras as well as other 3rd party equipment. More details to come, so stay tuned.

  1. hello
    1. how does this Dew prevention System work, is there a heating fan blowing towards the optic ?

2.The crank slider is the same as the omnislider just driven manualy by a handle, correct?

    3. If I bay the omnidrive e.g. 1.5m is it possible to expand later by baying a longer rail ?

look forward to hear from you.

    all the best

      Juergen,

      1. how does this Dew prevention System work, is there a heating fan blowing towards the optic?

DryEye is a resistance heating based system. You wrap the heating straps around your optics, secure with a velcro fastener and connect it to the controller. The resistance generates heat that raises the temperature of the optics above the dew point. DryEye Pro version also calculates the dew point to minimize the power necessary to heat up your optics.

2.The crank slider is the same as the omnislider just driven manualy by a handle, correct?

Indeed. However there are some minor differences in tightness of bearings used.

      3. If I bay the omnidrive e.g. 1.5m is it possible to expand later by baying a longer rail ?

Unfortunately this system is not modular. But you can still buy one controller and 2 different rails. The controller will work with any rail length – you set the length in the settings.

  2. Hello there!

Do you have a video of this product ? i mean, something I can watch on Vimeo, regarding functionality, specs… “how to”

I am looking forward hearing from you!
    Thank you

      Hi Gabriel,

Unfortunately we don’t have such video yet.
We wanted to finish with the firmware update and then certainly we’ll shoot it and upload.
