Beautiful ! Like the "behind the scenes" sequences. Thanks.
It was a great fun shooting with you, Paco. I like the final version very much!
Patryk and Agnieszka this is so good. And I'm so jealous of the DitoGear slider... Everything you guys do is so good.
Great film! LOVE the crop, especially for the shots @ and around 3:30ish.
Really nice camera motion, especially the vertical shots.
What's what extension arm you're using to hang the camera off the slider carriage?
Thanks! Well, it seems that I am slowly progressing from 2.35:1 to 2.55:1. There was just one excetion so far for 3:1 Dalescapes of time :)
Well very nice. I'm not a huge fan of CinemaScope/Panavision crops for video because they are so abused.. But this was paramount for the look you were going for. Real nice work!
Great stuff. Love the creative editing throughout. Especially around 1:40 and 2:10
Out of this world!!! Simply Beautiful!!! You two have just raised the bar for all of us on this piece!!! Congrats Patryk & Agnieszka!!!
Inspirational to this novice. Gave me chills, but not from the cold.
Amazing video, i have just looked through your portfolio and its packed with beautiful work. If you don't mind me asking what is your post-production work flow? and how do you get these videos looking so sharp and well graded! again beautiful work!
WOW!!! That shot at 4:09 is my favorite with the sun setting. Sweet!! You also sold me on that ditogear.
Very very nice work guys!! Impressive how you got that melancholy fell in the video which goes to show that a little snow and a lot of talent can make for a very interesting video!!
How do you get the aspect ratio exported like that? Do you import it like that aswell? I always use the widescreen filter in FCP, but that just letter-boxes the picture...
My workflow makes use of Apple Pro Res codec. I use Widescreen effect to crop to desired aspect and then while exporting I crop the letterboxed area.
Very nice! Really shows the quality of the sliders .. but was that a jib shot at 4:50 or a tilting slider?
All shots are done using sliders. We mount them vertically and diagonally.
Thanks for comments. Regarding the overall quality - it is just a matter of some experience with digital visual creative stuff (over 7 yrs) and striving for perfection. Attention to details is the key and my signature :) Technically - I got good input from cameras (carefully adjusted picture styles), then edited in FCP7 and graded in Apple Color. Grading is time consuming process but it is worth it.
Thanks, Yannick! Shooting Paco with his toys, fully concentrated on filming besides of low temperatures, was an unforgettable experience.
Thanks, David! That's exactly what we wanted to achieve :)
Thanks a lot! Great to hear this from you! And thanks for adding to The Good Stuff.
Amazing. Because of the 'behind the scenes' footage it looks pure and complete. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Jochem, for the comment! We wanted to show what was on both sides of the lens.
Truly majestic video, showing off not just the beauty of the world, but the beauty of photography too.
Beautiful!! Nice to see how you work with your aquipment! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Patryk. Wow WOW WoW. Good Stuff in perfekt Qualli. When is the Release Date to Download it :)
Love your work! Inspirational! Can you tell us which other lenses you used? Thanks.
Mainly a Samyang 14mm 2.8. The other lenses were: Samyang 85mm F/1.4, Canon 24-105 F/4 L, and a great vintage Revuenon 55mm 1.4. Lovely lens with great astigmatism.
Hello Patrick,
it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. They are good, simply. I think I'll eventually fall for the "Omnislider ditogear. I feel that with the "slider Cranck"movement is more jerky ... thank you !
Thanks for your response! Any specific adaptors? sorry to bother.. I have a 5D mkII and canon 7D with canon lenses, I'm planning on buying the omnislider in a near future but I also want to upgrade my lens arsenal. Thanks again.
I have a Canon EF to M42 adapter with a focus confirmation.
I also use some medium format camera lenses thus I have both Canon EF to Pentacon SIX adapter and Pentax 67 system. Great quality lenses, especially from Pentax 67 system. As for the budget options I'd recommend also going for old Canon FD type glass. Very good and quite cheap these days.
Great film! I loved every frame! Thanks for the lesson in how to use a slide! Wonderful work!
Congrats Ag and Patryck!!!
Nice job! It may look simple but really great effort making it cool!
Bonjour,
Je trouve cette vidéo magnifique, la beauté de l'image et la technique de création en même temps fait rêver et donne envi d'aller plus loin.
Bravo à vous
Claudy
Hello,
I found this beautiful video, beautiful image and technology together to create and dream
makes you want to go further.
Kudos to you
Claudy
Very nice!
A beautiful landscape, subtle motion (I want this ditogear equipment :)!), creative angles, and the crop aspect ratio you have chosen, generate a very atmospheric result.
The "behind the scenes" blends well with the landscape shots and illustrates nicely what the right equipment in the right hands is capable of.
Cheers.

featured on the planet5D blog! http://blog.planet5d.com/2011/01/winter-a-beautiful-hdslr-short-with-some-slider-bts/
Great work Patryk and Agnieszka! I'm curious how you did the shots toward the end that not only jibbed up but also tilted down. Was it simply manual tilt against the slider moving up?
Greg, that was panning added in post. If you combine it with ultra wide angle lens that gives you perspective distortion it makes a great effect.
I like it. :) its like eating ice cream. so you guys made the slider?
Incredible photography!! BTW what do you think about those samiyang lenses? I'm thinking about buying them.. thanx
Thank you, Kostas! This is how we have experienced this year's winter :) Glad you like it!
Quite good glass, especially for the price. I use 14mm a lot and I am quite pleased with its quality.
GRAULACJE - mocno daliście radę :D jedyne niedociągnięcia to ręczne kręcenia sliderem i związane z tym nierównomierne prędkości. Generalnie Piękna robota - wspaniałe zdjęcia - koniec mnie zmasakrował - KOZACKA SPRAWA
Pozdrowienia z Olsztyna
Beautiful Video Patryk&Agnieszka
I love your OmniSlider LoL
Great shots, colours...aLL!!!
Ahoj Sam
For a nature piece this was surprisingly lovely. Very definable sense of atmosphere, much enjoyed.
freaking awsome, man. The last shot is supreme even though is a timelapse
Fantastic. Both perspectives
Agnieszka : which lens are you using on the 550?
Great work
I've told you before how great I find the video, but it just came to my mind that one of the greatest things about it is the fact that you make the cameras themselves a subject instead of hiding them, even going so far as to let them "move" the snow and so on. Great thing!
Thanks, Chris! For the BTS shooting I have used Canon 24-105 L.
Thank you, Sam, for watching and for your nice comment! Ahoj :)
I really enjoyed this film! Beautifully done and very inspirational!
This is beautiful, simply beautiful. Amazing camera work, amazing editing and amazing choice of music. I particularly liked the shots with road in the horizon and the moving cars, fantastic perspective. Your work is amazing. Thank you for inspiring me.
Exceptional and inspirational work!
Love the slides and behind scenes shots!
Another great footage. Well done Patryk & Agnieszka :)
Hi Patryk and Agnieszka, I'm a fan of your work, the disciplines behind the choice of subject and compositions always create a personal experience for me, timelapse or not.
I was looking at some Samyang 14mm prime lens when i found this video, i understand its a non filter PL, which question me how do u control the exposure over viewing white landscape and direct natural light source. Drop in filters? i didnt see any thou..
Care to share some tips? I'll be shooting with a 60D.
Hey,
The Samyang 14mm and also the Nikon 14-24g I am using are non-filter lenses. However, I think there are some DIY approaches towards this.
You may search for it in the Internet. We didn't use any NDs here.
Which I've accounted for, I enjoy manual prime lens a lot and to see such great results from u help me to further purchase this little known good glass. Have u compare the Samyang 14mm on your full frame and the aps-c camera?
By the way, beautiful grading, thank u for the video :)
This Video ist just great. I love it.
Impressive video!! You really know how to capture the nature at it’s best Patryk! I just have a question: So, this hasn’t been shoot with a video camera right? I mean everything has been taken from photos and u’ve put them eventually all together? I’m kinda of new in all this and I was wondering how u did it. A answer would be very much appreciated! cheers!
Felix, This film was not shot as timelapse. This is regular video from the slider except for the very last shot closing the film, which was in fact a timelapse. The other films are timelapse mostly.
Extremely inspiring, great work, thank you.
